Navigate
You can get around the site from the NAV bar on the top of the page.
DASHBOARD: Manage your privacy, preferences (determines how profiles will be sorted in the Discover browser) and other personal settings.
DISCOVER browser highlights: STARTUP PROFILES (Company, Pre-Company and Technology Transfer) that have been published; AMBASSADOR PROFILES and NETWORK PROFILES (where Startups may want to subscribe and where users may want to join)
INFORMATION: About AngelRoot and helpful tips.
Certain pages contain TOOL TIPS.
Choose your user type(s)
Even though you can select any or all the following user types, we suggest initially selecting the one that best reflects how you plan to use AngelRoot. The platform is nuanced to behave based on the user type(s) you select. Icons are used to indicate section access and privileges.
ENTREPRENEURS can create and publish Company and Pre-Company startup profiles and then read feedback that can help them better understand how their business resonates with investors and mentors.
IP Custodians can create and publish Technology Transfer profiles and then explore commercializing technology developed by the university or institute where they work.
Investors can use the platform to discover startups seeking to gauge their interest in making an investment.
Mentors can discover startups that may require their of their firm’s expertise.
Icons are also used to identify how you have chosen to participate.
PROFILE Administrators can edit and manage the profiles they have created and own or have been invited to co-own.
Circle Members are those users who have joined one or more Ambassador circles. Circle members who are investors or mentors can refer deals with each other.
Screening Committee Members are investor or mentor circle members who have been invited to screen startups as part of an ambassador's selection (curation) process. (e.g. a judge in a business plan competition, a committee member that participates in curating startups on behalf of a syndicate, etc.)
DASHBOARD: After signing up, you can ADD a user type(s).
Your privacy and personal information
DASHBOARD: By default, all users and user information is private*. If you want to be discovered in the networks that you have joined, you can choose which fields you want displayed.
* Please note, the information you provide, however, can be viewed by Ambassador Administrators. And, if you choose to join an ambassador's circle, your name will be visible to your fellow circle members. That way you can send each other messages.
Join networks
DASHBOARD: Networks are credentialed communities that form the nucleus for investors and Mentors to collaborate and for startups to receive feedback.
Fundamentally, users join, ambassadors sponsor and startups subscribe to the networks that are aligned with their business.
We have establish over 160 networks to facilitate this (we will also add networks as the need arises).
PLEASE JOIN THE NETWORKS that are aligned with your career, your industry, and of course, your alma mater.
You will be able to join additional networks after our beta.
Manage your profile(s)
DASHBOARD: The "My Profiles" tab shows the published and unpublished profiles where you are an administrator or have been invited to become an administrator.
Join an ambassador's circle
Circle membership provides an extra level of intimacy. Circle members can refer deals and send messages with each other. Most every ambassador has created a circle.
DASHBOARD: The "My Profiles" tab shows the published and unpublished profiles where you are an administrator or have been invited to become an administrator.
A
AMBASSADOR PROFILE: You may also apply to join an ambassador's circle from the "Apply To join our AngelRoot circle" tab in that ambassador's profile.
Join a screening committee
In some instances, ambassador's allow investors and/or mentors who are not already members or employees of their organization to join their private screening committee. After joining an ambassador's circle, you may be invited (or you may apply) to become a member of that ambassador's screening committee (e.g. a judge in a business plan competition). Screening committee members' ratings and comments are carefully scrutinized by ambassador administrators as they curate deals.
DASHBOARD: The "My Screening Committees" tab shows the published and unpublished profiles where you are an administrator or have been invited to become an administrator.
A
AMBASSADOR PROFILE: You may also apply to join an ambassador's screening committee from the "Apply To join our AngelRoot screening committee" tab in that ambassador's profile.
Enter your preferences
Please indicate your personal investment and / or your mentoring preferences. Startups can be sorted in your Discover browser based on how they match your preferences. PLEASE BE AS SELECTIVE AS POSSIBLE. Individual user preferences, in aggregate, form the composition of networks. This will help Startups to better select the networks where they should subscribe.
DASHBOARD: The "My Screening Committees" tab shows the published and unpublished profiles where you are an administrator or have been invited to become an administrator.
Your collaboration settings
Collaboration (among fellow investors and mentors) and Feedback (provided to Startups) form the cornerstone of AngelRoot. By default, all ratings and comments are displayed anonymously. They are however, accompanied by a sidebar that details the "credentials" of the person who wrote the review.

DASHBOARD: 2. Enter the reasons why you're using AngelRoot. This will help form a frame of reference for fellow investors as the read your comments and ratings.

How much information I should provide
You can provide as much or as little information as you want. Here's what we require and what we recommend:
Required data/information: (a) One sentence "pitch"; and paragraph "pitch" (EDIT mode TOP of page); (b) Business stage - Revenue and Business stage - Business Cycle (EDIT mode - "CUSTOMIZE" tab); (d) Industry Group and Industry Panel (also in EDIT mode - "CUSTOMIZE" tab).
Highly Recommended Information: Generally, your logo (Top of page) and data/information that will populate your profile HIGHLIGHTS. Highlight information forms the basis of how investors search for startups: (a) Location ("Contact" tab); (b) Time-line data ("Customize" Tab); (c) Employees ("Human Capital" tab); (d) Months to Break-even and Investor profile information ("Investment" Tab); (e) Social Mission / Team Empowerment ("Social Mission" tab); (f) Success/Failure assessment ("Human Capital" tab).
Recommended Information: Generally: video/images (Top of page); and relevant sections of your executive summary ("Executive Summary" tab).
Please note: Ambassadors may have their own criteria. If you are applying to be screened by an ambassador (e.g. business plan competition) please complete the sections they require.

Customize your profile
I general terms, an AMBASSADOR can be any organization that funds, serves or supports startups. Having said that, we understand that many different types of ambassadors will fit that description. There are virtually thousands of ways an Ambassador profile can be customized to fit what your organization does and what it is seeking to achieve on AngelRoot.
There are two "Customize" tabs that administrators can access in EDIT mode. We acknowledge that understanding the options and completing these sections may be difficult at first. That's why we created a number of optional pop-ups (please make sure your browser accepts pop-ups). They can be used to guide you through the process of customization.
Don't be shy - if you need some help, please give us a call at 1-347-725-1254 or email us at Support@AngelRoot.Com.
Enter your organization's preferences
This is actually an important section as it allows entrepreneurs to search for you. That is to say, they will be able to compare the characteristics of their business with your predispositions. The process is the same as when you search for startups that "match" your personal preferences (the ones that you entered in your Dashboard).
